Frequently Asked Questions

Each person’s body responds differently to CBD. For first-time users of our Full Spectrum CBD Extract, we recommend starting with half the recommended dose (12.5mg instead of 25mg), once daily.  We encourage you to experiment with dosage/frequency as you better understand how your own body responds. 

For general use of our Full Spectrum CBD Extract we recommend: Shake well. Drop 0.5ml (25mg CBD) under tongue, 1-2x daily or as needed.

*Note: CBD is considered “biphasic” meaning that low and high doses can have opposite effects.  Lower doses (~<15mg) tend to increase alertness and have stimulating effects while higher doses (~>15mg) generally have more sedative effects.  Again, each person responds differently, so we encourage you to start “slow and low” and experiment from there depending on your desired result.

Catori Topicals (RollOn & Body Balm) are highly concentrated so a little goes a long way.  We recommend starting with a pea-sized amount of our Full Spectrum CBD Body Balm 1-2x daily for localized topical relief, and increasing the quantity and/or frequency of application as needed.  Just a few seconds of application is generally sufficient for RollOn use.  Our RollOn is designed to be used frequently throughout the day in short sessions. 

To our knowledge there have been zero documented cases of fatal CBD overdoses.  Doses of 20,000mg+ of CBD may have a toxic effect on humans, but even doses at this level are not considered lethal. 

It is however, possible to take more CBD than is appropriate for your body or needs.  We do not advise a “more is better” approach, but rather encourage you to start “slow and low” and gradually increase dosage and frequency as you better understand your body’s response and find the effects you desire.

It has been determined that CBD does not create physical dependence or abuse potential. 

For the fastest effects we recommend using our Full Spectrum CBD Extract.  This extract is administered by placing drops of CBD oil under the tongue where it is rapidly absorbed by the capillaries in your mouth.  Generally one can begin to feel the effects from this sublingual extract within 15-20 minutes.

Catori topicals must be absorbed transdermally so it can sometimes take 1-2hours before noticeable effects.

Some of CBD’s benefits are cumulative and consequently require consistent, long-term use to be fully appreciated.

Catori Botanics are formulated with Full Spectrum Hemp Oil, which means that they do contain trace amounts of THC.  All Catori Botanics have been third party lab tested to certify that they contain <0.3% THC.  To learn more about Full Spectrum Hemp Oil see our FAQ : Hemp + CBD page.

As Catori products contain <0.3% THC they should not (and are not intended to) get you “high”.   If you are nervous about trying CBD for your first time, we recommend starting “slow and low” with 10mg or less, once daily.

Given the trace THC content in Catori products, we make no guarantees about your fitness to pass a drug test when using our products.  While it is possible that full spectrum hemp oil may cause you to fail a drug test, it is highly unlikely.  If this concerns you, we recommend speaking with both your doctor and your employer before beginning to use our products.

All Catori Botanics are gluten-free, non-gmo, and formulated with certified organic ingredients.  Our hemp is grown using beyond-organic, regenerative agricultural practices here on our farm and we are in the process of having our hemp supply certified organic. 

Both the Extract and RollOn are vegan, however Catori Body Balms do contain beeswax so they are not vegan.

Side effects to CBD use are uncommon as CBD is generally well tolerated, however each person may respond to CBD differently.  The most common side effects: dry mouth, diarrhea, and fatigue are generally caused by exceedingly high doses.

CBD can inhibit your body’s ability to metabolize certain prescription drugs such as anticoagulants, xanthines, and benzodiazepines effectively.  If you are taking any presciption drugs we highly recommend that you consult with your doctor before purchasing our products. 

If you are pregnant or nursing please consult your doctor before beginning use of Catori products. 

Yes, our Catori Full Spectrum CBD Extract works for your pets too as they also have an endocannabinoid system.  We recommend starting with 1-2mg of CBD for every 10lbs of body weight.

In Catori Extracts that sit for long periods of time it is possible for some of the plant particulate in the FSHO to drop out of suspension.  This is perfectly normal.  We recommend shaking your extract before each use and after any long periods of disuse to ensure that the concentration in your extract remains homogeneous.

Yes, all Catori Botanics are third party certified for purity and potency.  In addition all of our FSHO is tested for microbial content, heavy metal concentration, pesticides, and residual solvents.  All Catori Botanics are certified to contain less than 0.3% THC.  We have passed every test with flying colors.  See our results here.

Hemp and all hemp-derived products with <0.3% THC are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill.  The TSA has clarified that it is legal to fly with hemp-derived CBD products containing <0.3% THC.

*It is important to note that while federally legal, certain states still consider CBD illegal.  Catori Botanics makes no guarantees regarding the legality of CBD within your local jurisdiction and it is up to the consumer to ensure they are legally compliant.
